Workspace Pro storage options

Choose the storage profile that fits your workload

Workspace Pro can be configured with different storage profiles. The standard configuration uses fast local SSD/NVMe-backed storage for the best day-to-day performance. For larger datasets, S3-backed storage provides significantly more scalable capacity without turning the workspace into a bulk-storage platform.

Why is backup included with S3 storage?

With S3-backed Workspace storage, the actual file content is stored outside the Workspace virtual machine. A virtual-machine backup alone therefore does not contain the complete workspace.

Ensembia's backup integration creates a coordinated backup of the file data, Nextcloud database and configuration. This keeps the application state and stored files together as a consistent recovery point. For that reason, independent off-site backup is included with all S3-backed Workspace Pro storage.

Optional immutable ransomware protection

S3 backup storage can optionally use immutable retention. During the selected protection period, protected backup objects cannot be changed or deleted, providing an additional recovery layer against ransomware, malicious deletion and compromised administrator credentials.

Available immutable retention periods: 7, 14, 21, 30, 60 or 90 days. Retention capacity is prepaid according to the selected protection window because immutable data cannot be removed before that period expires.

Large Object Storage and Resilient Large Storage are available with Workspace Pro.

Business backup options

Workspace and Workspace Pro include a daily platform backup. For additional protection you can add an independent off-site backup.

Already have your own S3 storage?

You can connect compatible customer-owned S3 storage without an additional software fee.

In that case you remain responsible for storage availability, capacity, retention, credentials and provider billing.

Ransomware protection

Immutable backups

A normal backup can still be deleted if an attacker gains enough administrative access. Immutable backup adds another protection layer.

During the selected retention period, protected backup objects cannot be modified or deleted. This gives you a recovery window even after ransomware, malicious deletion or compromised administrator credentials.

Immutable storage cannot be removed before its retention period expires. Because the storage provider continues charging for that capacity even after cancellation, the retention period is prepaid in addition to the normal current-month charge.
